Jenee Halstead: Listen
Skipping Stones
Jenee Halstead, Matt Halstead
Going down to the river
I’m gonna lay my burden down
Stick my feet in the hot sand
And wash away my frown
By the shores of the river
I choose my stones carefully
These pebbles are my burdens
And I toss them away from me
One skip for the hardships
Two skips for the troubles
Three skips for the worries
Four skips and their gone
As the pain settles to the bottom
I feel the shadows cast out of my life
I never believed in cryin’ over my troubles,
placing blame or causing strife
I just want to go to the place that accepts me
And get on with my life
One skip for the hardships
Two skips for the troubles
Three skips for the worries
Four skips and they’re gone
As the evening lingers
A pink sky cradles the sun in its arms
At twilight the stars come out one by one
With the dawn, comes the pale grey haze
Of a new day!
